Catherine O. Rhodes, 86 of White Plains, NY, was called home to her Heavenly Father on July 31, 2021. She was born on November 13, 1934, in Clements, Maryland to Francis Scriber and Ardell Elizabeth Curtis Scriber who both preceded her in death. She pursued her education in the St. Mary’s County Public School System.

Catherine was resilient, independent, a go-getter, loving and caring women that was always willing to help others. Above all, she was a Prayer Warrior. She had relentless faith in GOD. She always said, “If you put GOD first, you cannot fail because all things come through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She prayed for everyone and always lit candles when she went to church. She was a parishioner of St. John’s the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in White Plains, NY. She retired from The Westchester Medical Center after 37 years as a Nurses Technician. In her leisure, she loved traveling with the Elks Club and shopping at her favorite stores, Lord and Taylor and Macy’s.

She was also a dedicated member of Rosebud Temple #297 of White Plains, NY where she became a member in 1986. She served on various committees such as: Purple Cross Nursing, Past State President, Grand Temple Officer, Past Grand Daughter Ruler and Grand District Deputy. She enjoyed everything about being a daughter of the Elks. The traveling, dances, making of the Christmas and Thanksgiving basket to feed needy families, the Easter egg hunts and Christmas parties for the children, preparing get well baskets for the sick elders’ of the organization, but most of all the sister and brotherhood.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy B. Rhodes, her son George De’Andre Scriber, her sisters Arnett Bullock, Ethel Thomas, Annie Scriber, Vivian Scriber & Clara Scriber, her brother Joseph Albert Scriber (Hattie Bell), and a very special brother Francis Elwood Scriber, Sr, a very special sister-in-law Mary Helen Scriber, one nephew Thomas Scriber, two nieces Ardell Elizabeth Scriber and Cynthia Scriber.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Ernestine Scriber of Fort Washington, MD, Angela (Joseph) Saunders of White Plains, NY, and Annette Rhode of Jacksonville, FL; one brother James Edgar Scriber; Sister-in-law Olivia Walker and brother-in-law Euvon (Janet) Jones; four grandchildren: Shanta Boyd, Joseph Saunders III, Brandon Rhodes and Bryan Bagger; as well as two great-grandchildren, Tyishaun Boyd and Blythe Rhodes; as well as a host of Nieces and Nephews.

She will always be remembered for her loving and kind heart, love for her family and the Elks Club. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

A Visitation/Viewing/Wake will be held on Fri., 8/13 from 9:00-10:00AM at Lee's Funeral Home, LLC, immediately followed by ELKS Service from 10:00-11:00AM, with a MAXIMUM CAPACITY of 80 people at funeral home at any time, inclusive of any/all family/friends/Elks/clergy/attendees. And then Funeral Service to follow starting at 11:30AM at St. John the Evangelist Church. So you may come to the funeral home and/or church to attend, with your masks on. At the very least you can get hand sanitizer & sign the register book (NOTE: please feel free to bring your own pen). If not at capacity, you will be allowed in to have a seat; but if at capacity by the time you get there, you may be required to leave the premises after signing register book, so as not to be in violation nor cause a health hazard, so please govern yourself accordingly. Regardless of if you're able to enter/be seated, or not, social distancing MUST be maintained as each place requires (please refrain from touching/hugging/handshaking, preferably just elbow bumping briefly if at all). If instructed, PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY leave the building & premises if either is at their restricted capacity. Interment

Please do NOT get out of your vehicles until after the cemetery personnel have left the area & we the funeral home Explicitly instruct you to get out of your cars for the graveside service. After the graveside services are finished, ALL MUST LEAVE the cemetery Before the cemetery will cover the grave, this cemetery does NOT allow anyone to witness the covering of the grave.
