Constance McDowell-DeGruyter, a longtime resident of Greenburgh, passed away on April 27, 2013 at Tarrytown Hall Center, in Tarrytown, NY.
Connie was born in Tryon, NC, on October 20, 1929. She graduated from Norwalk High School in Norwalk, CT and also attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. After leaving “Howard,” Connie attended Juilliard School of Music, in New York City.
Prior to her retirement, she was an executive with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, in New York City.
Connie is survived by her brother, James R. McDowell, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; two nieces, Josephine Holbert, of Berrien Springs, MI, and Dorshia Johnson, of Long Island, NY; and a nephew, David Johnson of Pasadena, CA.
Connie was preceded in death by her mother, Inez McDowell, her father, James R. McDowell, her sister, Joan Johnson, and her nephew, Joseph Johnson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12 Noon on May 4, 2013, at Lee’s Funeral Home, 160 Fisher Ave, White Plains, NY. Reverend Debra Morris will be officiating.
