Daisy Bowens

Deaconess Daisy Bowens was born on March 19, 1930, in Willacoochee, Georgia, to Lemon and Essie Mae Williams Smith. A longtime resident of Greenburgh, NY, she married Leroy Bowens. He predeceased her on May 5, 1985. She also worked as a Nurse’s Technician at Hospitals in Yonkers, NY.

Deaconess Daisy Bowens has been a faithful member of Union Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She has worked for the building of the kingdom through her giving spirit and service as a dedicated servant in the following UBC ministries: Deaconess for more than 40 years, Home & Foreign Missions for more than 50 years, Food Service, UBC Church Clerk, and Sunday School teacher. On the local and national level, Deaconess Bowens gave of her time and talent to the Working Churches of Westchester County and Vicinity; Central Hudson Baptist Association; Empire Baptist Association; National Baptist Association; and the National Baptist World Alliance, to name a few. Affectionately known as Ms. Daisy, she could be seen walking the streets of Greenburgh and White Plains doing God's work in the community.

Deaconess Bowens’ favorite scripture holds a special place in her heart:

"He replied, "Because you have so little faith, I tell you the truth, if you have faith as
small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it
will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (Matthew 17:20 NIV)

We Thank God that Deaconess Bowens has been a great example of faithfulness and dedication to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The Lord has been and will always be her shepherd.

Deaconess Bowens was preceded in death by her parents, siblings & husband. She leaves to cherish her memory numerous generations of nieces & nephews, cousins, godchildren, friends, other relatives, and her Union Baptist Church family.

A Wake/Visitation/Viewing will be held on Fri. March 24th, 11:00AM-12:00PM at Union Baptist Church with limited capacity, followed by Funeral Service at 12:00Noon. So you may come to the church to try to attend, with your masks on. At the very least you can get hand sanitizer & sign the register book (NOTE: please feel free to bring your own pen). If not at capacity, you will be allowed in to have a seat; but if at capacity by the time you get there, you may be required to leave the premises after signing register book, so as not to be in violation nor cause a health hazard, so please govern yourself accordingly. Regardless of if you're able to enter/be seated, or not, please refrain from touching/hugging/handshaking, ONLY elbow bumping briefly if at all. If instructed, PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY leave the building & premises if the church is at their capacity. PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY follow & abide by the directions of the funeral home staff and/or church or cemetery personnel at all times. Please feel free to bring & use your own pen for signing the family's register book - you are encouraged to please BRING & use your own PEN for signing. If sending flowers, they may be delivered either on Thurs. March 23rd, 2022 by/before 6:00PM to Lee's Funeral Home, and/or on Fri. March 24th by/before 10:30am to Union Baptist Church.
