THE LIFE OF DONALD NOEL BARKER
We cannot judge what happens, though tears and questions start, we only see what's visible, God sees into the heart. On Saturday, April 5, 2014, God saw fit to dispatch one of His Angels down to bring another Angel home.
Donald Noel Barker was born on September 19, 1927 to the late Sylvester and Kathleen Barker in White Plains, N.Y. He was educated in the White Plains School System. He met and married the love of his life, Gladys Taylor, who preceded him in death. From this union his two children Ramona Harrison and Stephen Barker were born. After the death of Gladys, he found love again and married Geraldine Montgomery Dumas.
Donald was employed by General Motors for many years until he was unable to continue working. He was a Master Mason of the James Farrell Lodge # 34 F &AM of Yonkers. He was a member of the U.S. Navy along with his two brothers.
In his younger years, he loved riding motorcycles. He loved fixing and tinkering with things and he could fix anything. Most of all he loved the Lord with all his heart. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, N.Y. and also an honorary member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Stormville, N.Y., where he came to every function that served food. He loved Mt. Zion 's food and Pastor Hall. During his illness, he was provided with copies of Rev. Hall's sermons.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Geraldine who lives at home, daughter Ramona Harrison (Norman) of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., a son Stephen Barker (Maria) of White Plains, N.Y., a granddaughter Holly Harrison of N.Y.C., grandson Stephen of White Plains, N.Y. Stepchildren, Shirley Watson, Janice Dumas, Sandra Dumas and Willie Hughes. Step grandchildren, Craig Dumas, Jessica Watson, Jawana Dumas, Xavier Dumas, Shemika Dumas, Alonzo Terry, Kodey Baker, Kathleen Baker, and an adopted grandson James McDonald of Florida. A brother, Eugene Barker of White Plains, N.Y., and niece Sandra of Nevada and nephew Spencer of White Plains, N.Y., and a host of other relatives and friends. His brother Reginald and sister Sylvia preceded him in death.
He will surely be missed by everyone whose life he touched.
