Dorothy Thelma Maize-Clark lived 97 years! She was the youngest of eight children born to the late John and Hattie Mae Green Maize in Stamford, Connecticut. Dorothy departed this life at Schnurmacher Center for Rehab & Nursing on Monday, August 25, 2014.
Dorothy was educated in the Stamford Parochial Schools. In Stamford, she worked as a nanny until meeting Richard Clark in December 1951. After a short courtship they got married in March of 1952 and Dorothy moved to White Plains, NY. Richard and Dorothy did not have children. However, Mrs. Clark was the stepmother to four children: Ricky, Eddy, and Wilbur Clark all who preceded her in death and Dan Clark who lives in Savannah, GA.
Mrs. Clark, a former member of Mt. Hope A.M.E. Zion Church in White Plains, NY was a member of the Young Women Auxiliary Ministry.
Mrs. Clark lived on Minerva Place for well over 55 years and she was a great asset to the building. She was the treasurer for many of those years and she worked very hard and diligently in keeping the books.
Dorothy’s husband, Richard Clark died in 1988. She now rests with her seven brothers and sisters: Irma Maize, Randolph Maize, Juliette Maize-Green, Frances Maize-Grant, Roland Maize, John Maize, and Herman Maize. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
