On August 20, 2014 in White Plains, New York, Ellen Grace Smith departed this life. Grace was born on March 16, 1942 in Craven County, North Carolina to the late Ike and Naomi Smith. At an early age she joined Bryant Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Cove City, North Carolina. She received her formal education from Jones County Public Schools in Trenton, North Carolina.

At an early age, Grace moved to White Plains, New York where she worked for the Social Security Administration for over 30 years. Grace was an active member of Allen A.M.E. church in White Plains, New York where she served faithfully until the decline of her health.

Grace had 4 sisters and 6 brothers. Two sisters preceded her in death Almeta (Jessie) Baines and Luvenia (Linwood) Chadwick, and 3 brothers preceded her in death Rayford Smith, Ivery L. Smith and Frederick “Turk” Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories two sisters, Annie L. Robinson of Brooklyn, New York and Gladys Jerkins (Thomas) of Trenton, North Carolina; three brothers Jessie “Lubby” Smith, and Isaac “June” Smith of Manhattan, New York, and Dennis “Kib” Smith (Deloris) of Columbia, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law Verna Smith and Celia Smith of Trenton, NC. Grace also had a dear friend Ms. Darlene Young of White Plains, New York. Grace has a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her dearly.
