Errol Clifton Marquis, 85, of Mount Kisco, NY passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026.
Errol Marquis was born on February 14, 1941, to the late Bernard Oliver Marquis, Sr. and Maria Cecile Deterville in San Nicolas, Aruba. It was there he was baptized and attended grammar school. During his early years in Aruba, he became fluent in many languages including Dutch, Papiamento, Spanish and English. This is also where he grew a love for the game of baseball and was a star outfielder in the Lago Sports Park. In 1954, he and his family left Aruba for Brooklyn, NY to pursue secondary education in the United States.
In Brooklyn, he graduated from St. Augustine High School, Brooklyn where he was a varsity athlete in track. After graduation, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Essex, and he was honorably discharged in 1966. He later earned a B.A. degree from St. Francis College (N.Y.) while working full time at Kaplan’s pharmacy in Brooklyn.
In 1972, Errol began his career as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Eli Lilly and Company. In addition to promoting drugs for diabetes, he was also responsible for launching Prozac to the Brooklyn sales area. During his career, he earned several President’s Club awards for his clever negotiation skills and the increase in territory sales volume.
In 1975, he married the former Mary Hipp of White Plains, NY. From this union they had two daughters, Marisa Marquis and Camille Marquis. Errol and his wife enjoyed traveling, attending sporting events, jazz concerts and hosting barbeques for family and friends. Independently, Errol continued to play baseball for the Greenburgh Recreation League, coached Little League softball, and became a competitive league bowler in Westchester. Errol was elected President of the United by Choice Bowling League (UBC) at Elmsford Bowl and White Plains Bowling Center. He was a member of the Greenburgh Over 40 Baseball All-Star team and participated in National Bowling Tournaments. Errol also holds a ring for a perfect 300 game.
Errol and his wife enjoyed their later retirement years in Mount Kisco, NY where they continued to enjoy many activities, spend time with friends, and volunteered bi-weekly at Feeding Westchester.
In addition to his wife Mary, Errol Marquis is survived by his daughters Marisa Marquis and Camille Marquis (Errol Gingis). He is also survived by his siblings: Bernard Marquis, II (Glenda), Alphonso Marquis (Manuela), Eve Bedford, Kathlyn Berry (Reginald) and Juanita Marcellin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Merlin Marquis, Maria Aldith Baptiste, Joseph Macdonald Marquis and Fanny Talbot. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was loved by all and will be sorely missed.
