Frank Small was born in Clarksville, Virginia on August 1,1926 to the late Samuel H. Small and Sophie Venable. He was educated in the Clarksville school system and he later enlisted in the United States Army. In 1949, Frank met and married the love of his life-Helen Greene in Boydton,Virginia. Some years later, they relocated to White Plains, New York. Frank was employed by the City of White Plains for over 25 years in the Sanitation Department.
Frank and Helen found their final residence in White Plains in 1970. They shared a passion and skill for fishing. They could often be found nearby at Silver Lake with friends and family laughing and doing what they loved most - fishing. Frank was also known for his cooking skills¬ - especially his delicious fried catfish, which he generously shared with his neighbors. Although he and Helen never had children, they were instrumental in raising many.
Frank will be remembered as a tall man of stature with a jovial and genuine smile who never complained. He was a quiet, gentle, and sincere man. Frank was a devoted husband, a loving brother, a loyal friend, and a wonderful neighbor.
Frank is survived by his sisters - Sadie Marrow, Geriline Small, Lucille Reed, Corine Hayes, Edith Carry, a brother -Donald Small, a host of nieces and nephews and his neighbors on Lake Street. He was predeceased by his wife Helen, his sister Dorothy Tuck and a brother Sterling Small.
