Glover Wilbert Davis, Jr. was born on November 29, 1948 to the late Glover W. Davis, Sr. and Annie Washington Davis in Eutawville, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on January 6, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Glover, affectionately called Jr., was educated in the Orangeburg County public school system. He graduated from Roberts High School in Holly Hill, SC in 1966. Following his graduation he relocated to White Plains, New York. After relocating to White Plains, New York he worked for Alexander’s Department Store.
He was committed to the furthering his education and began taking classes at Westchester Business Institute, where he earned his Associates Degree. He later earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Pace University in White Plains, New York. Glover was a hardworking man, and was determined to work his way up the corporate ladder. He had a comprehensive background in accounting and financial reporting through his positions as accounting manager of Gaines Foods, Inc., and Assistant Controller, Controller, and finally as CFO and Vice President of Medo Industries Inc., a subsidiary of Penzoil Inc. Glover then decided to venture out on his own and started his Tax & Accounting Business, later forming his pride and joy, Davis & Rosenbaum Financial Services. He worked tirelessly and even throughout his illness. Glover was a Certified Public Accountant, registered investment advisor, a member of the National Association of Accountants, National Association of Tax Professionals, and Harlem Golf Academy Board Member.
On June 24, 1972, he married Alma Graves, and to this union 3 daughters were born; Kiwana, Shaina (deceased) and Tanya. Many years after dissolution of his first marriage, he married Valerie Rushie.
He was dedicated and devoted to the Mount Hope AME Zion Church where he became a member in the 1970’s. Glover loved his church. He was a devoted Trustee, loyal member of the Senior Usher Board, and a remarkable Controller. He made tremendous contributions and sacrifices for the building and betterment of the church.
Glover was a giant of a man. He would go out of his way, above and beyond, to help others and would face any challenge in life head-on. He had a vibrant zest for life that shined bright. He loved sports, and played softball and refereed games for many years for local leagues. He also enjoyed the leisure sport of golf, and absolutely loved to travel.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his two daughters, Kiwana Ann Davis, and Tanya Monique Davis, his grandson Tavaun Raheim Davis, his granddaughter, Nevaeh Shaina Imani Wilson, his sisters: Lois Davis Reed of Mount Vernon, NY, Gloria Harper of Centreville, VA, Laura Camilla Davis of Mount Vernon, NY, Lucille Davis Nall of White Plains, NY, and Stephen Davis (Annie) of Nanuet, NY, one Uncle Thomas H. Davis (Catherine Wilhelmena) of Bridgeport, CT, nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Glover William Davis and Annie Washington Davis, and one daughter, Shaina Jamila Davis.
