Inese Petion

Listen to Obituary
The world lost a beloved mother, Inese Petion, on January 30, 2021.

Inese (known as ManPaul) died at White Plains Hospital surrounded by her children. Inese was born in Miragoane, Haiti on July 6, 1947. She claims she has learned everything she knew from her loving parents, Serame Illerant and Tilimen Brianville.

In 1961, she married her longtime friend and love Paul Petion, who preceded her in death in 1988.

In 1983, she came to the United States in pursuits of a better life for her and her family. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” It is one verse that also have kept her children together as brothers and sisters, as they call themselves, “The lucky 7”

For anyone who had the privilege of crossing paths with Inese, knows that she had lived her life according to the Word of God. At a very young age, she gave her life to Christ. She was a devoted member of First Haitian free Methodist Church of White Plains. She sang in the Church Women’s choir. When she was not spending time with her church, she was spending time with her family. She loved to love on people, she enjoy cooking and feeding everyone. Every gatherings was a chance for her to turn it into a party. She has a flair for business; always buying and selling something to someone, those were times when the countless number of laughs and smiles were shared.

Inese lived a beautiful and complete life. She is survived by her brother Lerissaint Henry, Alfred Illerant and Person Illerant, her sister Civilia Civil, and Clermeda Illerant, Estella Illerant; Her Seven children and their spouses, Leonel and Veronique, David and Daphne, Frantzso and Yanick, Berline and Lamarre, Jeanel and Monique, Paula and Abner Clauna and Albertini; along with 36 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews
