James Goodman

Listen to Obituary
Mr. James Goodman, better known as “Jimmie” was born on July 18, 1926 in King George County, Virginia, to the late John and Thelma (Lawson) Goodman. He spent his early years in the Maryland area, where he attended church and was an usher.

He later moved to the Greenburgh area where he was cared for by Deacon & Deaconess Malcolm and Janice Hudson. He attended Bethel Baptist Church where he became friendly with many members of the church.

Jimmie loved to watch television and going to the movie theatre. He especially loved baseball and his favorite player was Babe Ruth. He was a kind, friendly, and always glad to see you. He greeted you with a handshake and a smile.

When Deaconess Hudson’s health began to decline he became a resident at Schnurmacher Nursing Home (now Martine Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing) where he remained until his passing. He was loved by all on the second floor of the nursing home. They made sure he received his tea and cookies several times a day. On Saturday, April 1, 2017, he departed this life peacefully. He will be greatly missed by all.
