Jose A. Reyes, a long time resident of White Plains, NY was born on January 5th, 1941 and departed this life on April 2nd, 2020 at White Plains Hospital.

Jose Sr. was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and was the middle child of 11 siblings to Juana A. Reyes and Ramon Reyes Sr., of Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

Jose attended grade school at Arecibo Elementary up until the 8th after which he stopped to start working in the fields to support his family. Jose worked a myriad of jobs throughout his lifetime including Food Emporium; Metalized Carbon; and White Plains Hospital, where he retired after 29 years of service.

Jose loved baseball and riding horses as a young man and was a big N.Y. Yankees fan.

Jose was known by many in the community and could sometimes be found standing on the corner of 82 Bank St. where he would greet the many passers by. He was known by many as "Papi" and would do his best to give to any who would ask. However Jose was a loving, caring and devoted father who cared deeply for his family, and had a generous spirit for lending a hand to those in need.

Jose or "Papi" as many knew him had a passion for cars and had a few throughout his lifetime.

Jose Sr. was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of White Plains and later attending The French Speaking Baptist Church of White Plains with his wife Itelia Reyes.

Jose leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his loss his wife Itelia Reyes (WP); Son, Jose Reyes Jr. (WP); grandson, Dejun Reyes (WP, NY); grandsons: Zachary X. Reyes, Quadir A. Reyes, Logan M. Reyes (Ossining, NY); sister, Blanca Reyes (San Juan, P.R.); brother, Miguel Reyes (Maryland); nieces: Anita & Dilly Reyes (Maryland), Joti & Gio Reyes (New Jersey); nephew, Ramon Reyes Jr.; "Tia Rosita Reyes", and a host of loving friends.

Jose Sr. was predeceased by his mother, Juana A. Reyes, and father, Ramon Reyes, and brothers "Tio Hyme Reyes" (Arecibo, P.R.), "Tio TuTu Reyes" (Arecibo, P.R.), "Tio Victor Reyes" (Arecibo, P.rR), "Tio Ramon Reyes Jr." (Arecibo, P.R.)



The Entire Staff of Lee's Funeral Home, LLC respects that the family of José Reyes entrusted the care of their loved one to us, and that they value the level of service & attention our funeral home provides. We are honored, in turn, to provide comfort, assistance and service to the family of José Reyes during their time of bereavement.
