THE LEGACY OF LIFE

Ludie James Johnson was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on February 16, 2014 to the late Louis and Rosie Johnson. He was educated within the Tuskegee School System and graduated from Macon County Training School.

In 1962, Ludie moved to White Plains with his best friend Leon Person to start a new chapter of his life. Ludie was always an industrious man from his arrival in New York. He was employed with New York Telephone, White Plains Hospital, and General Motors Corporation, where in 2001 he retired from working the Line after 30+ years of service.

While at White Plains Hospital he met Jessie Mae Dingle, fell in love, and in 1966 they were joined in holy matrimony. From their 48 year union three daughters were born: Nicolette, Caroline and Sheri.
Ludie was a laid back, hard working man that enjoyed his family, friends, and his cars. He worked tirelessly to ensure that his family was provided for and that his children were able to pursue higher education and become successful. Having been raised by his mom to reverence and maintain a relationship with the Lord, Ludie rededicated his life to Christ and joined the Calvary Baptist Church not long after his retirement in 2001. He maintained his fellowship with the body of Christ until illness prevented him from attending service regularly.

Ludie leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Jessie Johnson, of the home town; three daughters: Nicolette Johnson Catoe, of Hartsdale, NY, Caroline Johnson, of Richmond, VA and Sheri Johnson, of Washington DC; four granddaughters: Courtney, Dallas, Kenedi and Bailey; and one great granddaughter, Angel; two brothers: Bobby Johnson, of W. Palm Beach, FL, Willie James Johnson of Wildwood, FL; three sisters: Louvon J. Mason, of Miami, FL, Anne B. Johnson, of Ft. Washington, MD, and Anne P. Linton, of Ft. Washington, MD; as well countless brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ludie is predeceased by his father Louis, his mother Rosie, and his brother Leroy. Ludie will be greatly missed by his relatives and friends.
