She devoted her time and energy to wherever and whatever she could do for her church.
Lyndora Baldwin-Upshaw was born on July 27, 1948, in White Plains, New York, to the late Jay Baldwin and Dora McLean Baldwin. She was the younger of two daughters. Lyndora attended White Plains Public Schools and graduated from White Plains High School in 1966.
After high school, she attended Shaw University in Raleigh, NC and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Lyndora began her career as a teacher in the Atlanta, GA school system as a High School Social Studies teacher. After many years there she relocated to South Carolina to teach children with disabilities. She was dedicated and loved her students very much, finding it extremely hard when they graduated. After moving back to NY in 1993 she was employed by EZ PASS in Nyack, NY as a supervisor in the billing/payment department. While living in White Plains Lyndora helped her sister take care of their parents, Deaconess Dora Baldwin and Deacon Jay Baldwin.
Lyndora was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church from early childhood thru her adult life - she was a member of the Jr. Choir, Jr. Usher Board, Sunday School, Voices of Bethel, Beautification Ministry, Trustee Ministry and the church Bookkeeper. She also was an Honorary Missionary. For several years Lyndora worked as the Office Assistant, until her health began to fail her. Lyndora devoted her time and energy to wherever and whatever she could do for her church.
Lyndora had many hobbies, but two she especially enjoyed were going on cruises and making and selling jewelry with her sister, Victoria. She loved being with people and wanted to make everyone smile.
Lyndora had many hobbies, but two she especially enjoyed were going on cruises and making and selling jewelry with her sister, Victoria.
Lyndora had many Family and Friends throughout her life - at church, her community and at her work - all will deeply miss her. Her memory will live on in the Hearts of all who Loved her.
Lyndora was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Dora Baldwin, one stepbrother, Frank Patterson and several other relatives.
Lyndora is survived by her Sister Victoria Baldwin-Wilson of Lisbon, Maine, her brother-in-law Howard Wilson and a host of cousins, nieces & nephews, and her loving Sister Friend Deacon Monica C. Andralliski.
