Lynn Bryant

Listen to Obituary

Lynn Joyce Bryant was born at White Plains Hospital on September 13, 1956, the middle child of Leola Tilly Bryant and the late Decarris Bryant, Sr. A lifelong resident of White Plains, Lynn entered her eternal rest on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the same place she was born, White Plains Hospital Center, following a long period of illness. Lynn joined Mt. Hope African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in 1990 and was assigned to Class #9.
Lynn graduated from White Plains High School where she participated in a number of extra-curricular activities, including performing as a Cheerleader during her attendance. She received her Master's Degree in Education and Business Administration from Mercy College and went on to become an Adjunct Professor in Business Administration at the Manhattan Campus of Mercy College for several years.
Lynn was employed as a program manager by the White Plains Housing Authority's Resource Center from January, 2008 until her health began to fail. She worked with and was devoted to serving the senior citizens in all the City housing complexes - she loved her "seniors." Most recently, Lynn was in the process of developing a television program to be aired on White Plains Access Cable to fill the segment, "Winbrook Pride," previously hosted by Darryl Jenkins. Prior to joining the Housing Authority, Lynn worked with Today's Students, Tomorrow's Teachers. Lynn was an active member of the Boards of Directors of both the Summit House and the White Plains Community Action Program, and she served her community faithfully.
Lynn was a loving, helpful and giving person who reached out to anyone in need. She loved to dance and cook; she was a "sharp" dresser, always up with the current fashion trends and, we all know - Lynn loved to talk.
Surviving to mourn her loss and to share fond and loving memories, Lynn leaves a son, Anthony Decarris Lee and her mother, Leola Bryant, both of White Plains; one brother, Decarris Bryant, Jr. (Karen) of Yonkers; and one sister, Susan Rene Bryant of Brooklyn. Also, one uncle, Glenwood (Ernestine) Bryant of White Plains; three other aunts - Marion Bryant of White Plains, Naomi Gillard of Newburgh and Constance Farmer of Tarrytown; one nephew and one niece, Tyler and Shenice Bryant of Yonkers; numerous loving cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
