Listen to Obituary
Morris Bruce Taylor, the eldest son of the late William Truehart and Lucy Pearl Taylor, was born on January 10, 1948 in Bronx, New York. He departed this life on February 23, 2014 after a brief illness. Bruce attended the public schools of New York and graduated from the Benjamin Franklin High School in 1966.

Bruce was inducted into the United States Army in 1967 and served as a Specialist Five in Vietnam. He received an honorary discharge in 1970. Upon returning to the states, Bruce furthered his education at Bronx Community College and completed his studies at the Richmond College of the City University of New York in 1975. Bruce, in view of his love of science, began an extensive career in medicine, and became an exceptionally dedicated and skilled lab technician. Bruce worked for several facilities throughout Manhattan, including the Cabrini Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital Center, and the Beth Israel Medical Center where he was a supervisor of the hematology department.

A true sports enthusiast, Bruce was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan, a true blue Giants fan, and followed his teams faithfully. He was a lover of all types of music and will long be remembered for his impressive collection of albums and CDs. Bruce was a kind, gentle giant with a humble spirit. He particularly loved the holidays, and in recent years, he became a talented poet. He most enjoyed sharing his creative work each year around Christmas time with family, friends and colleagues.

Bruce is survived by his brother, Phillip Taylor of Powhatan, VA, sisters, Linda Elmore of White Plains, NY and Vicki Taylor of Chestnut Ridge, NY; brother-in-law, William Elmore of White Plains, NY; two nephews, Qian Elmore and wife Marie of Atlanta, GA, Marc Elmore and wife Kelly of Charlotte, NC, one niece, Alyssa Elmore of Columbus, OH; five grand-nephews, Alex, Anthony, QJ, Isaiah and Elijah; one uncle, Freddie Taylor of Windsor Mill, MD, and one aunt, Sue Preston of Mamaroneck, NY; trusted and loyal friend, Gabriel Urena of Brooklyn, NY; loving goddaughter, Michele; and a host of cousins and friends.
