Nathaniel Hester, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, uncle and cousin, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 98 years of age.
Nathaniel, an only child, came to New York at age 16 to live with his aunt after the unexpected death of his mother.
An Honorably Discharged Army WWII Veteran, he was proud of his 50-year membership as a masonry worker in the Laborers' International Union Of North America (LIUNA). A longtime resident of Greenburgh, he enjoyed spending time with his friends hunting. He was also an avid fisherman. Even in his 90s, discussing sports and politics was still a passion.
He was predeceased in death by his wives Barbara Hester (nee Clymer), Ethel Hester (nee Stephenson) and son Ronald Hester. He is survived by three children: Nathaniel Hester Jr., White Plains, NY, Dianne Ramsey (Leonard Gayton), Seattle, WA and Christopher Jeter (Connie Landers-Jeter), Yonkers, NY. He leaves four grandchildren: Natalie Hester (Victor Johnson) Seattle, WA, Nathaniel Hester III (Amber Hester), Seattle, WA, Tyler Jeter and Nia Jeter, Yonkers, NY. He also leaves five great-grandchildren: Victoria and Vanessa Johnson, Dylan, Jacob and Jonah Hester and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved and will miss him dearly.
We also acknowledge and sincerely thank all those who've expressed their sympathy, love and kindness to us during our time of loss.
