In Loving of Memory of Paul Douglas Strudwick

Paul Douglas Strudwick, 71, beloved son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on January 2, 2026. Paul was born on December 30,1954, in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. He was the son of Ventrix Iola Brown Strudwick and the late Harold Douglas Strudwick. He grew up in Russell Heights and attended Wolmer’s Boys School and Jamaica College. A talented artist, he sought and won admission to Ontario College of Art and Design University. After his family relocated to Mt. Vernon, New York, he later graduated from New York Institute of Technology, where he earned his B.A. in Fine Arts.

In the 1980s, after beginning his professional life in graphic design, Paul transitioned into international banking. Over the course of his banking career, he held positions at several major institutions, including UBS (United Bank of Switzerland), Deutsche Bank, HSBC, and Lloyds Bank. Later, Paul embarked on a second career at Costco Wholesale in Port Chester, where both members and coworkers frequently sought his guidance.

He met the love of his life Gilda Ellen Jackson in Mt Vernon, NY. They married in 1990 and from this union they had two children, Adria and Jason. In 2004 they relocated to Valhalla, NY where they continued to flourish as a family and form new friendships. Among neighbors and throughout the community, Paul was beloved for his unmistakable sense of style—truly “not your average Joe.” His everyday attire was simple yet distinctive: blue jeans, a white oxford button‑down shirt, and his signature cap. His favorite place to be was the beach, where he felt most at home. Paul also expressed his creativity through cooking, becoming well known for his exceptional jerk chicken and his famous pumpkin rice and peas.

Paul loved his family, both near and far, and his life was a true testament to love and laughter. He was a man of many talents and passions, including cooking, gardening, and listening to music. During family gatherings, he could often be found in the yard at the grill, sharing his warmth and care in a way only he could. Paul will be fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the deep love he showed to those around him. We ask that you remember him for the profound impact he had on the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Gilda Strudwick; his daughter Adria Camp (Dwane), granddaughter Amaya; son Jason Strudwick and his faithful pet companion, Ruby the Maltese Yorkie. He also leaves to mourn his mother Ventrix Strudwick; and sisters: Donna Strudwick, Judith O’Connor (Robert), Arlene McIntosh (Mark), half-brother Douglas Strudwick (Melva), and sister-in-law Theresa Jackson; along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. “Good and faithful one, enter into the joy of your Lord.”
