Pearl E. Bovan departed this life February 27, 2023 at EPIC Rehabilitation and Nursing, White Plains, New York following a brief illness.

Pearl was born January 16, 1924 in Sheldon, South Carolina, to the late Anderson Scott and Wilhemina (Stevens) Scott.

She relocated to New York from South Carolina. Pearl graduated from White Plains High School and attended a semester at Livingstone College.

Pearl worked as a nurse at Grasslands Hospital (now known as Westchester Medical Center) in Valhalla, New York. She then moved on to become a seamstress for a short period of time prior to going to work for Saks Fifth Avenue, as a Retail Manager. Pearl began working for Saks Fifth Avenue in 1957 up until her retirement in 1992.

Pearl’s Christian life was primarily as a member of Mount Hope A.M.E Zion Church in White Plains, New York for more than fifty years. Not only did she sing in the Church Choir, she was also on the Missionaries Board, was a Sunday School Teacher, and also served as an Usher.

On October 31, 1954 she married Wilford Bovan.

She was well known for being an avid cook and her favorite TV show to watch was The Price Is Right. She was generous and kind to her family, friends, and to any one she came in contact with.

Pearl leaves to cherish her memory her son Kevin Bovan of White Plains, NY; sister-in-law Blondell Montgomery of Fort Washington, Maryland; granddaughter Shaquinta Bovan of Toms River, NJ; grandson Jonathan Grover (fiancé Gen Lavallee) of Norwood, PA; great-grandsons Cole Grover and Shane Grover both of Norwood, PA; great-granddaughter Charlee Rose Grover of Norwood, PA; two nephews Mark Wayne Sellers of White Plains, NY, and Derrick Montgomery of Fort Washington, Maryland; two nieces Kimberly Ann Sellers of White Plains, NY and Chantay Montgomery of Fort Washington, Maryland; grandniece Patricia Montgomery, two grandnephews Charles (Chuckie) Montgomery, and Ta’John Montgomery, all of Fort Washington, Maryland; and god-daughter Dolores (Dee) Dash of White Plains, NY; and many relatives and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband Wilford Bovan.

A Wake/Visitation/Viewing will be held on Sat. March 11th, 11:00AM-12:00PM at Mt. Hope AME Zion Church with limited capacity, followed by Funeral Service at 12:00Noon. So you may come to the church to try to attend, with your masks on. At the very least you can get hand sanitizer & sign the register book (NOTE: please feel free to bring your own pen). If not at capacity, you will be allowed in to have a seat; but if at capacity by the time you get there, you may be required to leave the premises after signing register book, so as not to be in violation nor cause a health hazard, so please govern yourself accordingly. Regardless of if you're able to enter/be seated, or not, please refrain from touching/hugging/handshaking, ONLY elbow bumping briefly if at all. If instructed, PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY leave the building & premises if the church is at their capacity. PLEASE KINDLY RESPECTFULLY follow & abide by the directions of the funeral home staff and/or church or cemetery personnel at all times. Graveside Service & Burial will be on Monday February 13th, 2023, 11:15AM. You may either meet at Lee's Funeral Home Monday by 10:30AM latest & follow us in procession to cemetery -OR- meet at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Office/Main Entrance on Monday by 11:10AM. Please be mindful that we're only just arriving at the cemetery at 11:15am & then need to check-in, be lead to the grave & set-up, & the start of any services will be shortly after. Please remain in your vehicles until the cemetery men are out of the area & we specifically let you know you may start getting out. Thank you in advance for your understanding & patience.

Once at cemetery & acknowledged as part of our procession, please do NOT get out of/leave your vehicles unless/until instructed to do so. Otherwise, once we're finally lead to/at the gravesite, please do not exit your vehicles until after the cemetery personnel have left the gravesite area & we explicitly instruct you to do so. Please come wearing a mask, and responsibly social distance as much as possible/the area allows. Please follow & abide by the directions of the funeral home staff and/or cemetery personnel at all times.
