Ronald R. Blackwell, 82, of Elmsford, NY, passed away peacefully at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, NY, after a short illness, on July 24, 2016.

He was born September 4, 1933 to Thelma (Evans) and James Blackwell. He was also predeceased by his loving adoptive Mother, Mamie Bradford.

Ronnie graduated from Page Jackson High School in Charles Town, West Virginia in 1951. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed throughout Europe and North Africa. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1955.

In 1991, after 22 years of service, he retired from Westchester County Department of Corrections in Valhalla, NY.

Ronnie loved sports and was a former coach of the Elmsford Little League. He was also an avid fan of the Knicks, Jets & Mets. He enjoyed gardening and planted roses especially for his wife Arlene. His other pastime was music, a hobby and pleasure shared with his two sons.

He is survived by the love of his life, Arlene (Middleton) Blackwell to whom he was married for 56 years; and sons: Ronald D. Blackwell and Richard A. Blackwell, all of Elmsford, NY. He also leaves a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
