On October 12, 2024, Rose Wyatt gained her wings and is resting in the arms of the Lord after a long-standing illness. She was 86 years old.
Rose Wyatt, a native of Chesterfield County, Virginia attended Virginia State College. She graduated with an associate degree from WCC and a BS degree from Mercy College. She and her husband Leroy Wyatt resided in White Plains for over 40 years with their 3 sons Keith, Kenneth and Karl.
Rose’s work record was deeply rooted in servicing her community. She held several part-time positions with the City of White Plains Youth Bureau including the afterschool program, Teen Lounge Coordinator at Chatterton Hill Church and the Slater Center Summer camp. She was also employed full time as a Youth counselor. Rose was a Senior Social Caseworker with the Westchester County Department of Social Services where she retired in 2002 after 20 years of service. She returned to work briefly as a Site manager for Family Ties of Westchester Yonkers satellite office.
Rose was an active member within the PTA while her sons were in school. Under Dr. Antin, Rose served as a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Board and Human Relations Committee. Rose was a member of the Battle Hill Association and a former member of the Board of Directors.
Rose Wyatt has been an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated for 47 years. She is also a life member of AKA and has held executive offices and committee responsibilities through her Zeta Nu Omega Chapter.
Rose Wyatt has been a member of Chatterton Hill Church for 44 years. Since uniting with the church under Reverend Walter Goehring, she served on numerous church boards and other activities: the Board of Deacons; Board of Trustees; Delegate to the New York State Conference and the Metropolitan Association meetings; Nominating Committee; Chairperson of the Outreach Weekend (now defunct) as well as Moderator of the Church Council.
Rose was predeceased by her son Karl, daughter-in-law Mary and her husband Leroy. She is survived by her sons Keith (Soror Valencia) and Kenneth and her grandchildren James (age 30); Caroline (age 28); Danica (age 16) and Jayden (age 14).
Rose Wyatt fully subscribes to Mahatma Gandhi’s quote “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

A Memorial Service may be planned in the future/Spring of 2025, and if so & if public, that information will be updated herein once determined & scheduled. Though any possible memorial service is still pending, please still leave written condolences now herein on the Memory Wall to express your sorrow, share your memories, and as an expression of sympathy & way to communicate with/offer comfort to the family, that they and others may see, and may be a lasting tribute in her honor.

As private cremation services have already been held, NO flowers should be sent to the funeral home. In LIEU of flowers, & as a lasting tribute, the family will soon select where contributions may be made in her name/memory/honor. You may also choose to plant a tree, or you may wait to see if any Memorial Service will occur & send flowers then if so, and/or a contribution may be made in her name/memory/honor once determined.
