On October 20,2018 Shirley Jean Lawrence Singletary departed this life in White Plains Hospital, White Plains, NY. Shirley was born April 25, 1935 in White Plains to the late Joshua M. and Florence E. Lawrence, she was
the first born and was surrounded by the close bond she shared initially with two sisters, Mary Loretta and Florence Juanita both (deceased) two brothers, Joshua Emanuel (deceased) lovingly known as "Manny" and Henry Robert of Wappingers Fails, NY and later Renee and Beatrice.

Shirley graduated from White Plains High School. During her years in high school because of her great talents and abilities. Shirley and one of her closest friend's (Ruth Brown) became the first African American females to be selected to the well-known, All Female Tigerette Marching Organization Team.

After graduating from White Plains High School, Shirley attended and graduated from New York Traphagen School of Fashion Design with a degree in Interior Design. Shortly thereafter, Shirley met and married Bobby Singletary and from this union on March 27, 1961 they welcomed their only child Jeffery Dean Singletary.

Shirley's career profile included the care, management and execution of various programs for children with special needs (including adult age), also 25+ successful years of Case Management and Admission Supervision within the Health Care Industry.

Shirley dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah's
Witnesses on July 11, 1969.

With modesty and humility Shirley did everything with passion, love and a zest for life, her loving nature and overall care for others was infectious. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory: her son Jeffery, brother Henry
(Brother), sisters Renee and Beatrice; nieces: Pamela, Mandy, Jackie, Denise and Halley nephews: Robby, Skyler; special friends Doris and Leon Thomas, and many other close relatives and friends.
