Listen to Obituary
Tracey Anne Raghnal-Daly was born on March 21, 1961, in London, England, to Edna Mae Shaw and Leroy Nodrick Raghnal. She was raised in a vibrant culture steeped in music, food, and dance — all of which remained central to her life.

Tracey started her education at Our Lady of Grace School in the Bronx. After graduating from Aquinas High School also in the Bronx, Tracey attended SUNY Stony Brook and later transferred to CUNY Hunter College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition. Her professional journey in food service began at Mt. Vernon Hospital in New York. After spending a few years in West Virginia, she returned to New York in 1994 and joined NY Downtown Hospital. Her career spanned several healthcare facilities, including The Brooklyn Caledonian Hospital Center, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Cobble Hill Health Center, and finally St. Luke’s-Roosevelt (now Mount Sinai Morningside), where she worked as Retail Manager. She truly cherished her team there, and this is where her career came to a close.

Tracey met Kelvin Daly at Stony Brook. They later married, moved to West Virginia, and welcomed their son, Jaffar — her pride and joy even before he was born. After moving back to New York, Tracey poured her heart into raising Jaffar. She was a loving, supportive, and ever-present mother, especially on the soccer sidelines. Her dedication led her to becoming a youth coach so she could be there — every game, every step of the way.

As Jaffar grew older and more independent, Tracey returned to her childhood love of dance. Having studied tap and ballet at Miss Dorothy’s Dance Studio, she now found joy in salsa at Cache Dance Studios in the Bronx. Her warm, welcoming smile soon became a fixture at the front desk. She also rekindled her passion for hustle dancing and proudly won three medals at a competition in New Jersey — one of her last performances. Whether at a studio or a party, if there was music, Tracey was dancing.

A devoted fitness enthusiast, Tracey was often found lifting weights on Saturdays or training during the week — sometimes coached by her own son.

Tracey passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, after a brief illness. She lived a life full of movement, music, and meaning. True to her Jamaican and Trinidadian roots, she loved reggae and soca, and the rhythms of her heritage were the soundtrack of her life.

Tracey was a mother not just to Jaffar, but to many of his friends as well — offering advice, love, and laughter. She was selfless, kind, beautiful, and funny. She was unmistakably her father’s daughter — charismatic, generous, and able to make everyone feel seen and welcome.

She is survived by her beloved son, Jaffar Daly, daughter-in-law Linda, and granddaughter Roslyn Ariyah; her sister Marie Raghnal, brother Richard Raghnal, sister-in-law Harriet Raghnal, nephew Jarrett Raghnal, nieces Aijah and Aaliyah Raghnal; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her cherished “sistas.” She was predeceased by her parents, Leroy Nordrick Raghnal and Edna Mae Shaw.

Tracey was loved, admired, and respected by all who knew her.

If you want to honor her memory, just watch her dance.
