Listen to Obituary
Vivian H. Scriber, 76, of White Plains, NY, was called home to her heavenly Father on March 25, 2015. She was born March 21, 1939 in Clement, Maryland, to Francis Scriber and Ardell Elizabeth Curtis Scriber who both preceded her in death.

Vivian was a strong, independent, caring, and loving woman that always wanted the best for everyone. She was a parishioner at the Church of St. John the Evangelist in White Plains, NY and a firm believer in God. She worked for Westchester County Medical Center as a laundress until she retired after thirty years of service. In her leisure she loved shopping at Macy’s, and traveling.

She was a dedicated member of Rosebud Temple#297, White Plains, NY where she served as Daughter Ruler for fifteen years and a loyal member of the Rosa Thompson Past Daughter Rulers Council. She was a member of the New York State Daughters of Elk, a Past State President, Area Chairperson and a New York State Conductress. Vivian also served as Grand Temple Officer, Past Grand Daughter Ruler and Grand District Deputy.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia Scriber-Bennett, her son Thomas G. Scriber, Sr., her sisters Arnett Bullock, Ethel Thomas, and Annie Scriber; her brother Joseph Albert Scriber and a very special brother and sister-in-law Francis Elwood Scriber and Mary Helen Scriber.

Vivian leaves to cherish her memory, her loving son, Joseph Wesley Scriber (Yolanda) of White Plains, NY; five grandchildren: J. Jermaine Scriber of Mableton, GA, Tominika Scriber-Ferguson (Calvin) of Opelika, AL, Thomas G. Scriber, Jr. of White Plains, NY, Mia Thomas of Portsmouth, VA, Ciera N. Scriber of White Plains, NY and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters; Catherine Rhodes (Leroy) of White Plains, NY, Clara Scriber of Hartsdale, NY, one brother James Edgar Scriber of Dameron, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Those who knew her will always remember her unique laugh, smile, and beautiful spirit. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
